SHOOTING INVESTIGATION ONGOING

A man, later identified as Scotty Eudy, 50, of Cave City, was pronounced dead at the Monroe County Medical Center after a shooting incident at a residence in Tompkinsville. According to Kentucky State Police Detective Mike Dubree, Post 15 was notified on Monday night, Aug. 18, at 9:30 p.m. of a shooting, with Dubree and KSP Trooper Trent Tooley responded, along with law enforcement officers from Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and Tompkinsville Police Department.
Dubree noted that the preliminary investigation indicated that Eudy had allegedly attempted to gain entry into a residence at 2071 Sugar Creek Road. An occupant in the residence confronted the man and subsequently discharged a firearm, striking Eudy in the chest.
He was then taken to Monroe County Medical Center by Monroe County EMS personnel, where the Coroner pronounced him dead at 10:16 p.m.
According to Dubree’s preliminary report, an autopsy was scheduled for the next day.
The death investigation is still ongoing, Dubree pointed out.
